Materials & Craftsmanship

We work with materials that have a story to tell — chosen for their beauty, strength, and character, and for the way they echo the natural spirit and refined quality of Mollymawk Workshop. Each piece is a small homage to maritime life, weathered timbers, and well-loved objects that only grow finer with time.

Rimu

A cherished New Zealand native wood with warm, honeyed tones and a rich, distinctive grain. Rimu conveys a subtle sense of heritage, reminiscent of timber aged through years of quiet use.

Teak

A true marine classic — naturally strong, steady, and resilient. Teak is the wood of boat decks and sea air, weathering with enduring grace into a softly silvered patina.

Black Walnut

Deep, refined, and unmistakably elegant. Black Walnut brings a sense of library woodwork and old-world craftsmanship, offering timeless depth and quiet sophistication.

Cherry Wood

Smooth and inviting to the touch, Cherry Wood begins warm and deepens over time into a soft amber glow, much like a well-kept heirloom polished by years of gentle handling.

Copper

Timeless and steadfast, copper begins with a warm gleam and slowly develops a natural, evolving patina — sea-spray greens and weathered browns that recall old ship fittings and classic nautical hardware.
